George Peet has taken workshops with Ansel Adams, Jerry Uelsmann,
Judy Dater and Wynn Bullock. He was part of a year long live in
workshop conducted by Minor White in 1973. George has had
extensive experience in documentary photography. In 1972 he
photographed the Missions of the Southwest, U.S.A. In 1975 he
documented the architectural ruins of Greek Theatres. From there
he went on to Jordan to photograph its landscape and architecture.
In 1980 George, along with Gabrielle Keller, did a photographic
study of the Superior Courthouses of Massachusetts. The
photographs were published in 1984 in a book entitled "Courthouses
of the Commonwealth". The book received a National Gold Medal
Award for book publishing from CASE in 1985. In 1982 George
started a photodocumentary of Revere Beach, that he would continue
to work on through 1987. For his work he was awarded two separate
grants, one in 1984 and one in 1986, from the Revere Arts
Council/Mass Council for the Arts. His work on Revere Beach was
featured in "Bostonia Magazine" in August 1987. Along with an
extensive exhibition record, his work is included in many
corporate collections, some of which are; The Bank of Boston,
The Polaroid Permanent Collection, Hill and Barlow Law Firm,
The United Arab Bank and The Museum of Art at RISD. George
currently works as a freelance photographer, as well as continuing
his career as a fine art photographer.
